Mullaperiyar: SC fails to consider TN's plea
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed the Tamil Nadu plea to undertake repair works at the Mullaperiyar Dam. The constitutional bench of the SC stated that only after the report by the high powered panel can this be decided.

The high powered panel has been given time till February 29 to submit its report. Earlier, it was asked to submit the report before October 31 and now it has been extended.

The SC also flayed the Union Water Resources Department for not abiding to the panel's directive of appointing a technical advisor. The Tamil Nadu government had submitted two pleas in the SC to undertake repair works at the dam and also to stop Kerala's demand for building a new dam.
